Academic Calendar for Academic Year 2024

ALL ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

The calendar for academic year 2024 applies to ALL UR new and continuing students in ALL academic programs.
The academic year 2024 shall officially start on 2^nd September 2024 and end on 29^th June 2025.
The academic year 2024 shall run on a Semester Basis for all Colleges.
Each Semester shall include the following key academic activities and duration:
- Teaching and Learning: 14 working weeks for Semester 1 and 16 working weeks for Semester 2.
- Revision: One (1) working week.
- Examinations: Two (2) working weeks.
- Special Examinations, Processing of marks, appeals on each Semester Examination results: Two (2) working weeks.
Short Breaks and Summer Holidays: The Semester 1 short break of two (2) working weeks is planned from 16^th January 2025 to 19^th January 2025, and the Summer Break is planned from 1^st July 2025 to 30^th August 2025.
The Call for applications for new students shall start on 5^th February 2024 for the Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery and Doctor of Dental Surgery.
From 19^th February 2024 to 18^th August 2024, all new students will undertake a registration/induction and an English & Soft Skills Acceleration program.
Weekends and all public holidays approved in Rwanda are excluded in the calculation of the working weeks below.
